Bible Passage(s): 2 Chronicles 20: 1 – 30
Memory Verse: “……. Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”. 2 Chronicles 20:20
The people of Moab came together with the Ammonites and others to battle against Judah, the people of God. Recall that these were the same people that the Lord did not allow Israel to invade, when they came out of Egypt as they were settling in the Promised Land. Now they came together, joined forces and arrayed themselves in battle against Judah to remove them from their land of promise.
Considering the formidable forces gathered against Jehosaphat and his people, ‘a great multitude, coming from beyond the sea’, it was natural for him to fear and be dismayed. However, Jehosaphat and his people went to the Source of all things; God the Father, cried out to Him, reminding Him of the great things He had done for Israel and indeed Judah in the past. As they prayed unto the Lord, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, a member of the Asaph division of the Levites, ‘And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go ye down against them: ………. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.’ 2 Chronicles 20: 15-17. So when Jehosaphat and the people of Judah heard this word from the Lord, they bowed and worshipped the Lord. Then king Jehosaphat gave that famous charge in Vs 20 to his people ‘…. Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.’
Are there some serious issues confronting you right now and it appears you are about to be overwhelmed by them? The same word of the Lord comes to you this month as you pray: ‘Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you.’ This month of August is your month to breakthrough on every side; if you will only believe! Dare to believe.
The Lord bless and keep you, May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
Do have a wonderful month.
