Bible Passage(s): Psalm 126: 1 – 3
Memory Verse: The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Psalm 126:3
As we conclude this year of New Beginnings and look forward to the year of Explosion and Great Exploits, we should cast our minds back to recount and relish the great things the Lord has done for us. When we do this, our hearts will burst out in praise of our Lord with that great hymn: ‘To God be the glory, great things He has done;’ In the light of this, let us consider that wonderful Psalm by King David, Psalm 126: 1-3: “When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”
Indeed our hearts should rejoice at this time of the year and we should offer thanksgiving to God our Father and Redeemer. Consider the new things, new heights and new vistas He opened for you this year. Despite the grumblings and devices of the enemy, the Lord brought you through! Is it in the area of your health, or your finances, family and relationships? I have a great testimony of renewal and restoration. This year, the Lord renewed my health. He delivered me and gave me a new song. For this, I will make known His faithfulness to all generation. I therefore rededicate my life to proclaiming His greatness, goodness and mercy in continuous thanksgiving and praise. What about you? Do you have any reason or cause to thank the Lord this year? I am sure you do. Why don’t you join me in singing this great song by Thomas O. Chisholm in praise and gratitude to our Father?
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
Refrain
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Refrain
The song of rejoicing shall not cease from your household forever in Jesus name. Amen. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
