Bible Passage(s): Genesis 41: 1-32
Memory Verse: “And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” Genesis 41:16
The story contained in the book of Genesis, chapter 41, in a nutshell forms the climax of Joseph’s life and experience in Egypt. Recall that right from the tender age of seventeen years, Joseph had demonstrated the uncanny ability to dream great dreams.
The dreams of Joseph demonstrated God’s unfailing grace and favor upon his life. However, Joseph’s dreams landed him into slavery in Egypt, when his jealous brothers sold him to Ishmaelite traders, who in turn sold him to Potiphar, captain of Pharaoh, the King of Egypt’s guards. This was intended to derail the actualization of Joseph’s dreams. But as we read in preceding chapters of this book, everywhere he went, Joseph found favor with God and men. Starting from the house of Potiphar, to the prison, he always found favor with his bosses, because of the excellent spirit and leadership qualities that God has put upon him. All these eventually led to his having an audience with Pharaoh, King of Egypt, where he made the declaration – ‘….. God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace’, when he was asked to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams.
Are you at any crossroads in your life at the moment? And you feel helpless and despondent. Are you worried, like Pharaoh, about your dream(s) or certain unpleasant news you have received? Are you in a quandary right now and don’t know where to turn? Do you need to make a decision or know the way forward in certain situations or circumstances of life confronting you right now? God has brought this same message from the lips of Joseph to you this month – you will receive an answer of peace. Therefore get up, take a bath, change your clothing and rejoice! For God is giving you an answer of peace this month. Be sensitive to the spirit, wait patiently, your night of suffering, mourning, fear and pains is over! When tears prevail over the night, joy comes in the morning. Your joy has come! You will rejoice with great rejoicing in this month of uplifting and you will march on to great heights. You are about to explode with a great bang!
