Bible Passage(s): Psalm 103
Memory Verse: ”But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children,” NKJV Ps 103:17
Psalm 103 is a psalm of praise to the almighty God, written by King David. It was written to demonstrate and acknowledge the wisdom of God and praise His holy name for the wonderful benefits He has bestowed on us
Here the psalmist enjoins us to bless the Lord with all our soul and all that is within us; every fiber of our being.Yes indeed we have so many things to praise and bless the Lord for in our lives. The situation and circumstances surrounding or confronting us may look bleak and we may not feel any compulsion to be grateful and thankful. Indeed God has done great things for us and our hearts should rejoice and bless His holy name! See the great benefits accruing to us from God, as recounted by King David in verses 3 to 5 of The Message translation of the
Bible:
3 He forgives your sins – every one.
He heals your diseases – every one.
4 He redeems you from hell – saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy – a paradise crown.
5 He wraps you in goodness – beauty eternal.
He renews your youth – you’re always young in his presence.
David therefore enjoins us not to forget a single one of these benefits. Praise the Lord!So as we enter the month of August today, the 8th month of the year, let us look back over the months of the year and indeed the years gone by, and recount the many things the Lord has done in our lives. I am sure if we think carefully, we will see the many things the Lord has done for us. As a Yoruba proverb says ‘he who is able to think and reflect deeply enough, will realise the depth of praises he has to give’. Therefore, I enjoin you throughout this month, let your praises be more than your asking. The Lord has done many things for you in the past and He has also prepared so many more to do. I believe therefore that what you can do to show your gratitude is to spend time to thank and praise Him. For sure, His steadfast Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is His faithfulness. The Lord will perfect all that concerns you this month. Your life will generate more praises and acclamation to His name throughout this month of August in Jesus name. As you praise, you will receive an august visitation from the Lord. Amen.The Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
