Bible Passage(s): Deuteronomy 8: 11-18
Memory Verse: “You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth that He may confirm his covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 8: 18
Last month, we spoke about Abundance and presented preconditions for us to come into and experience it. We did say that ‘’Abundance is when we have all things in surplus and plenty. It is not just about money or the material things of life, but an all-encompassing thing that fills our lives with superlative provisions of God in all its ramifications.’’ We went on to lay out prescriptions for us to experience and remain in the abundance that the Lord our God has promised to bring into our lives this year.
This month, we want to go a little further by reminding ourselves that our abundance does not consist of our works of piety or that we actually deserve it, but that it is the grace of God.
For it is our God who gives us the power to make wealth and be in abundance.
As Deuteronomy 8 stated, abundance is far beyond having a surplus of gold and silver. Rather, it connotes an all-rounded existence in total wellbeing, peace, goodness and satisfaction.
This brings to my mind a recent story I read from a Facebook post about a young man who bought oranges from a seller. After comparing the amount he paid for the oranges to what he is paid as a sales executive in the company where he works, he came to the conclusion that we should never ever get to a stage in our lives when we come to think that things are working for us because of our knowing how to do it. It is the grace of God on our lives! It is the grace of God that makes the difference and not our ability, background, intelligence or efforts.
So as the passage we read above says, we should always put God first and realize that He is the beginning and the end of our lives. Let us be humble in everything we do with the realization that there are no successful men, all we have are HELPED men! God used someone for you, it was not by your strength or efforts. It just pleased God to promote you.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen. Have a wonderful month and a good year.
Prayer Points
1. Thank the Lord for His hand upon your life and for how far He has led and helped you.
2. Express your gratitude to Him for the abundance that He has brought into your life. Think back and access where you were last year and how far He has helped you this year, in spite of the recession and the harsh and difficult economic situation in the country. You pulled through! You are surviving and He is making you a blessing! Praise His holy name for all these.
3. Pray for continuous help and provisions, that He will place you in your Goshen, where your needs are abundantly supplied.
4. Pray for your country and ask the Lord to help her and cause all problems confronting her right now to cease, that He will help your leaders and people to walk the path of righteousness, justice and fairness.
This month, the Lord will march you towards your blessings and favor. It shall be a month of incredible good news for you in Jesus name.
