Bible Passage(s): Deuteronomy 8: 6 – 18
Memory Verse: “And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.” Deuteronomy 6: 10 – 12
Some years ago, I bought a poster with the following quote,
‘‘Lord, you have given me so much!
But there is one thing more I ask from you:
A grateful heart’’ – Anonymous
Ever since and over the years, this quote has been a recurring decimal in my life as I contemplate the workings of God in my life. This month, the Lord brought it again to me as I read through the passage for the month’s Message of Grace and He wants me to also share it with you.
That we should never forget to be grateful to Him in all situations and circumstances we find ourselves, for the levels we attain and the battles we have won.
We need to appreciate the greatness and goodness of God in our lives. As the Bible passage quoted states, this month and indeed for the rest of the year, the Lord reiterates that He is bringing us into a land where our experience will be as described. We will receive great provisions which we do not know ever existed. It will be a great and brand new month and year for us!
But as stated in verse 12 of the memory verse, when all these happen for us, we should beware and never forget that it is the Lord God who has provided all these bounty for us. We are therefore enjoined to continually show a heart of gratitude to Him. We should realise that it is not only by our intellect, smartness and ability that we were able to attain the heights we have gotten. It is all because of His unfathomable mercy and endless grace. So be grateful and don’t be an ingrate!
The Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
Have a great month.
Prayer Points
1. Thank God for His goodness and greatness. Praise Him for His great provisions for you, even in these times of drought and scarcity.
2. Thank Him for the good health that you have and the peace that surrounds you like a cloud.
3. A Yourba proverb says, ‘’He who is able to think properly will know how to situation his thanksgiving’’. Look back over the years of your life and think and discern the goodness and greatness of God in your life. List them all and thank Him for each of them.
4. Pray this prayer: Lord you have given me so much, but there is one more thing I desire from you, please give me a grateful her that appreciates and praises you continually.
