Bible Passage: Luke 7: 36 – 50
Memory Verse(s)
“There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.” Luke 7: 41 – 43
When a woman in the city learnt that Jesus was eating at the house of a Pharisee, she went there and stood at the feet of Jesus weeping ( Luke 7:38). This woman, a sinner, heard that Jesus was eating in the house a Pharisee, also a sinner, took advantage of the window of mercy that she perceived had been opened at the Pharisee’s house.
She went in total submission and brokenness to worship at the feet of Jesus, knowing that her sins, which is great will be forgive, just like that of the man whose story Jesus recounted later, as quoted in the memory verses above.
The woman came down to the one, who is the only one that can forgive sins, to have her sins forgiven, and she was indeed forgiven! This means that no matter how far you think you have gone in sin, God’s window of mercy is always open for you to come in repentance. God’s arms are always open to welcome you back! So why don’t you come to Jesus Christ right now, where you are, in total submission and repentance? Take the opportunity of the window of mercy, that is open this month of the coming of Jesus Christ into our sinful world, to confess your sins and ask Him for forgiveness. He will forgive and not leave a single one out!
Why don’t you invite Him into your life right now, asking that He makes you His beloved? Then your life will never be the same again! Any life that is touched by Jesus, or any home that Jesus enters, becomes a new life and a new home. Nothing remains the same again. The Bible says: ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away; behold all things are become new’ (2 Corinthians, 5:17). So it is with those who come to Jesus. He says anyone who comes to me, I will in no wise cast out’.
I appeal to you today, as you enter the crowning month of the year 2017, to give yourself a special Christmas gift. Surrender your life to Jesus and you will receive the best even as the year closes in Jesus mighty name. So if you are ready to do this, please pray this prayer with a firm assurance that it will be answered: “Dear heavenly Father, I come to you in total submission and repentance, I ask you to forgive my sins. I surrender my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour today. Please take it over and make me your beloved in Jesus mighty name, Amen’’. Now that you are born again, please get and begin to read the Holy Bible and start attending a Bible believing and Bible preaching church, so that you will begin to grow in Him. The Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
Prayers
1. Thank the Lord for making you His beloved son and daughter. Ask Him to take pre-eminence in your life and help you, from now on, to live a life devoid of sins.
2. Thank Him for bringing you to the last month of the year 2017. Pray that He will take you to its end and lead you to cross over into year 2018 in a glorious way.
