Messages of Grace

Bible Passage(s): Romans 8: 18 – 30

Memory Verse: “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. ………. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Rom 8:22, 28

The times are delicate for everyone in the world right now. Covid-19 pandemic has practically locked down the whole world, everyone, the high and lowly inclusive, are locked down in their homes, stuck on one spot! Borders of nations and even states within countries are closed to prevent the spread of the virus, which is easily transmitted through contact. Social distancing is now a new phrase, the practice of which cuts across all age groups around the world.

As we all go through this experience, I believe God is passing a message to the world right now. The reality of our situation is that our money, assets, power, technology and possessions have all been rendered inadequate to save us from the pandemic. Virtually the whole world is now tied down to one spot, not many are able to do any effective work, go out and make any investment, or seize another opportunity. Collectively, man has committed so grievous sins to the extent that our world is practically tottering on the edge of a precipice. Now is reality time for man! The whole creation of God, indeed the earth, has been groaning for the past ages, as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present moment! Man has devastated the earth and it is bleeding profusely from the wounds of the dagger thrust into its heart! In his present solitary existence, it is now time for man to come back to God, seek His face and plead for forgiveness. We should not let the lessons of our current experience be lost on us. It is time to call on God to heal us and heal our world. However, in the midst of all these, Gods purpose is sure. His purpose at the end of the day is good, in line with His plan for mankind. God wants to take His world back from the reckless use and abuse by mankind. We have to align with His purpose so we don’t get left out and abandoned by the road side.

In the midst of all these, God has a word for you; “. …… in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” As Glenn Packiam said in his write-up in Our Daily Bread Devotional of 30^th March 2020; “Maybe the ‘beginning’ of your story feels messed up. But there is a bigger story. It’s a story of a God who made you on purpose and for a purpose, who took pleasure in you. It’s a story of God who came to rescue you (Matthew 26:28); a God who put His spirit in you to renew you and to recover your identity. It’s a story of a God who wants to bless you”. So why don’t you take this opportunity to re-examine your life and come back to God today. He is waiting for you to come. Don’t let your life go with the flood sweeping through the world right now. As Paul said “…….. our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.” (Romans 8:18 -19) Therefore why don’t you give your life to Jesus Christ today? He waits patiently for you, to save you from this flood and for His glory to be revealed in you. A new world is booting! Don’t be left out of it!

May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.

Prayer

Lord, as you pass through the world with your flood, let me not be swept off by the raging flood. I come back to you in repentance, forgive me and save me O Lord!
