Isaiah 30: 18 – 26

Memory Verse:   “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you,

saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

This indeed has been a difficult year for the world and many people all over the world. Covid-19 pandemic has caused untold havoc and hardship to nations and families. There does not appear to be an end to it yet.

However the message to us this month is that, the Lord our God is still on the throne. The Bible passage for this month tells the story of the children of Israel when they were faced with woes and tribulation as a result of their dependence on man and not on God; seeking human support and not that of God. God condemned them for this act of folly, but promised to save them and destroy their enemies.

Hitherto the world had gone astray, depending, as it were, on human knowledge, which in many cases is contrary to the wisdom of God and his ordained plan for humanity. Man has gone too far in his profanity and in so doing brought the current calamity on the world.

As a consequence of the dire straits of the world, many children of God have raised up their voices, crying daily to God that He should remember mercy and bring peace back to our world.

The message this month is that God will send His word to man, directing him on the way to follow. Are we ready to follow and walk in it? I pray that in our individual and corporate lives as people and nations of the world, we will listen to His divine direction and walk in in it. In doing this let us throw away all images and everything that seeks to replace God in our lives, and follow after righteousness, justice and honesty. We should reject the desperate pursuit of filthy lucre, not minding the fate and welfare of millions all over the world. We should not seek to dominate the world in any way but seek to live in peace and harmony with each other. There has been too much shedding of the blood of the innocent and children of God. Enough is enough! When we do this, the Lord promises us from verse 23 to 26 as follows:

Then He will give the rain for your seed

With which you sow the ground,

And bread of the increase of the earth;

It will be fat and plentiful.

In that day your cattle will feed In large pastures.

24 Likewise the oxen and the young donkeys that work the ground

Will eat cured fodder,

Which has been winnowed with the shovel and fan.

25 There will be on every high mountain And on every high hill

Rivers and streams of waters,

In the day of the great slaughter,

When the towers fall.

26 Moreover the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun,

And the light of the sun will be sevenfold, As the light of seven days,

In the day that the Lord binds up the bruise of His people

And heals the stroke of their wound.

May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you, May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.

Prayer: Lord let me hear your voice today and grant me the grace to walk in it, not turning to the right or the left, but faithfully following you.
