Romans 12: 1 – 3

Nali Kali means Joyful Learning in the Indian Language. How do we learn the will of God for our lives? This is perhaps the most asked question by many people, especially Christians. Wanting to know the will of God is an ongoing query at different stages of human life. For example, how do I know what to do in particular situations or circumstances; what do I wear today; what should be my response to certain issues in my life; which school should I send my kids; who should I marry; what career path should I take or what course should I study and so on and so forth. These are all legitimate questions that we will always want answered at certain point of our lives. The answer, however, for a child of God is not “blowing in the wind”, as Bob Dylan wrote in his famous song with the same title.

When we align with His purpose, which for us in all we do, is by ‘offering our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God’. This we do when we seek to please God and not ourselves in all that we do. When we do not seek to run an agenda that is different from that which God has commanded for us. Then we will be truly transformed in our thinking to be able to know His perfect will.

Gods will for us is not about ourselves, but for the fulfilment of His real purpose in the world; that is in all that we do, we should seek to take the message of Jesus Christ, our master and saviour, to the ends of the earth. The real purpose of man is to find God and be in intimate communion and relationship with Him, and when we do, we are able to understand and carry His Message along with us in every area of our lives as living vessels, holy and acceptable unto God, which the Bible says, is our reasonable service. God’s will in every circumstance of our lives is to carry His message to the world through our behaviour, utterances, daily living, the work we do, even our dressing. Then we will not struggle to know His will in any situation that confronts us.

Prayer: I receive the grace to know and always walk in God’s will and purpose for my life in Jesus name,
