THE PRAYER OF FAITH!
James 5: 13 – 20
Memory Verses: “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” James 5:13 – 15
God always answers the petitions and prayers of His people, when they pray with faith, without doubting nor wavering. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail. As recorded in James 5:17 and 18, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.! And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruits.” Indeed the prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail!
We cannot attain this feat if we do not have faith in God. Faith, according to the book of Hebrews 11:1 “….. is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.” Elijah was a man of great faith. He demonstrated severally in the Old Testament, the power of faith in God and what can be achieved when we pray in faith. When Elijah faced the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, he demonstrated the power of God through faith by praying that God should send fire from heaven and burn a water soaked burnt offering, to prove to the people the power of God and to the prophets of Baal, the uselessness of their god.. When he prayed in faith, God answered his prayer and sent fire down from heaven; “Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. Fire which totally burnt the sacrifice, drying up the water.” 1 Kings 18:38
Therefore, as we enter the last days of the year 2021, God wants us more than ever before to come to Him in faith so that He will demonstrate His power in our lives. Yes, you may look over the past months and feel that not much has been achieved in your life. It is not over until it is over. Rise up this month, stir up your faith in the Lord and make your requests and petitions to Him. God always reserves the best for the last and this year will not close until your prayers are answered. Go forth in holiness and faith and you will experience the power in the prayer of faith. Even if you have sinned, confess your sins and do not go back to them. Pray with faith and you will see the manifestation of the glory of God in your life.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you, May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
Prayer: Lord My faith looks up to thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary. Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray. Take all my guilt away. O let me from this day, be wholly thine! Pray and see the manifestation of the Lord. Look up to the coming year with faith and present your expectations and aspirations to Him and be prepared for your Year of Uncommon Miracles.
