• Luke 5:1-10
Memory Verse: “Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.” Luke 5:5-7

The story in the Bible passage is yet another evidence of uncommon miracles. Peter and his companions had toiled all night, but could not catch fish. These were experts in their profession of fishing. They knew when and where to cast their nets in order to make a catch. However, this night was another bad day in the office for them. So having given up, they abandoned their boats on the edge of the river and were dejectedly washing their nets to go home. But something happened of which they will never recover from. Jesus Christ entered Simon Peter’s boat! Peter encountered Jesus and having obeyed His instructions; he experienced an uncommon miracle.

Jesus is the embodiment of grace. When you encounter Him, you will receive grace for uncommon miracles. However, to experience the grace for uncommon miracles, you need to do two things. One, as Peter did, you need to be ready to yield yourself and all you have for the work of God. Peter made himself and his boat available for Jesus to teach the people. As a businessman, trader, worker or whatever you do, you should be ready and willing, in season and out of season, to use it as an avenue to accomplish the work of God. You have to yield your ‘donkey’ to enable the Gospel of Jesus Christ to enter into the diverse places of the world, be it the market place, your community and so on. This Peter did without hesitation.

The second thing is obedience. When Jesus told Peter to “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” That is to launch his boat into the deep water and let down his nets. He did not query Him about it, despite his having toiled all night and also realizing that it was already dawn and from his professional experience, there may not be any fish around to catch. He obeyed and received the grace of an uncommon miracle.

Have you been toiling for many years and you are on the verge of giving up on life and lost hope for any good thing happening to you? The Word of the Lord to you this month is that it is not over yet. Make way for Jesus in your life, obey His instructions and you will experience an incredible breakthrough.

When Peter obeyed the Lord and let down his nets as instructed, ‘…… they caught such a large number offish that their nets began to break. So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.’ This month and indeed throughout this year, as you obey the Lord, you will be blessed beyond your ability and capacity to harvest the spoils and you will become a blessing to other people, who will come to partake and share in the harvest with you.

May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you, May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.

Prayer: O! Lord, grant me the hearing ears and a willing heart to obey you this month, so that I will receive the grace of uncommon miracles in Jesus mighty name
