Bible Passage(s): 1 Samuel 16: 1 - 13
Memory Verse: “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” NLT (1 Samuel 16:7)
The events of the past few months in Nigeria have brought the above story into greater perspective. This is the story of how God chose David from amongst his brothers as king over Israel. After God rejected King Saul, the first King that was ordained over Israel, He commanded Prophet Samuel to go to the house of Jesse and anoint one of his sons king over Israel. Note that God did not reveal who amongst the children of Jesse he was to anoint beforehand.

The month of May is said to be the month of grace. It is the month following immediately after Easter; when we remember the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ; which brought about our reconciliation and restoration to God our Father. So as we move into the new month, let me reiterate the need for us to come to our Saviour and renew our commitment to Him. This is the only requirement for us to live a fruitful life. Therefore as we proceed in this year of New Beginnings, let us continue to strive towards fruitfulness by living a righteous and sin free life.

Memory Verse: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”Genesis 1:28
After God had created all things, He created man in His own image as the epitome of all creation. The Bible says that and having created them, male and female, God blessed them and commanded them to ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion … over every living thing that moves on the earth’ (Vs. 28).

Bible Passage(s): Genesis 47: 1 - 6
Memory Verse: "I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem." Isa 66:12-13 NIV
I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year 2016 and also welcome you to the Year of Peace and Safety. In December 2015, God gave us a word that, though the evidences around us portend that there may be no respite from the difficulties the world faced in the year 2015, but for the year 2016, the Lord says that: He ''will extend peace to us like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream; we will be nursed and carried on her arm and dandled on her knees.
