Mark 10:46-52
Memory Verse: “The man heard the crowd walking by and asked what was happening. 37 Some people told him that Jesus from Nazareth was passing by. 38 So the blind man shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” 39 The people who were going along with Jesus told the man to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me” Luke 18:36-39
In his book titled ‘The River of Time’, Igor D. Novikov, the Russian theoretical astrophysicist and cosmologist wrote about the theory of time as propounded by Sir Isaac Newton (1642 – 1727; an English mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, and author), which states that “Time is a uniform; river; without beginning nor end, without; source; or; sink; and all events are ‘carried’ by the river’s flow. Time had no other properties but the property of always being of the same duration.” In short, Time, can be simply defined as ‘the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole’.
You may be wondering why I am going into this complex examination of time in this month’s message? The reason is to underline the importance of time to taking advantage of opportunities in the life of man. Opportunities always come in the form of a river flow, and the one reserved for a person will not flow past him. When a particular opportunity comes your way, you should take hold of it and make the best use of it
Blind Bartimaeus saw an opportunity when he heard that Jesus was passing by, where he sat, beside the roadside. He seized the opportunity with both hands, brushing aside opposition and criticism from men. As stated in Ecclesiastes, chapter 13, verse 1, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”, we should strive to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the time of our life, because it may not come back again. It will go with the flow of time as in a stream flow. As such, there is a time for our uncommon miracle! What we should do, just like blind Bartimaeus, is to have great faith and not allow anything to stand in our way to use the opportunity provided by time for our own miracle. How do we do that? Be strong and steadfast in your faith, in season and out of season. Be vigilant, watch and pray for grace to enable you use the opportunity provided by time and the strength and spirit of discernment to identify and take hold of it. Had blind Bartimaeus lost that opportunity when Jesus was passing by him, or allowed himself to be cowered and intimidated by the opposition and comments of men, he might not have received his healing.
This also goes to show that, your performance or achievement in life is not limited by your physical condition. Blind Bartimaeus did not allow his visual disability to stand in the way of his miracle. So, what do you consider as your limitations or handicap? If blind Bartimaeus was able to rise above his physical handicap to take advantage of the opportunity that time presented to him, so can you. The Lord will grant us grace and favour in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you, May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
Prayer: O! Lord, grant me the grace and favor to enable me rise up to the occasion when my time comes.Let me recognize it and make good use of it to receive my uncommon miracle, in Jesus mighty name.

God will end the violence of the wicked in your life. He will keep you and your nation secure. You shall go out and come in, in safety and you shall not be cannon fodder to the wicked in Jesus mighty name.
