GRACE FOR THE RACE AHEAD
Jeremiah 29:11
The Bible is replete with numerous promises about the plans and purposes of God for the lives of His children. One of such is the promise of grace. According to J. Gresham Machen “Grace is one of the most important concepts in the Bible, Christianity, and the world. It is most clearly expressed in the promises
of God revealed in Scripture and embodied in Jesus Christ. Grace is the love of God shown to the unlovely; the peace of God given to the restless; the unmerited favour of God.” That is, you receive what you do not ‘work’ for, because God decided to give it to you on a platter of gold, as it were.
As such, we all need grace, and we can’t live without it, we cannot purchase it nor earn it. It only ever comes by means of a gift, and when we receive it, we immediately realize how much we needed it all along, and we wonder how we could’ve lived so long without it.
God’s grace is the most powerful force in the universe, and reaches you where you are and takes you where God wants you to be. It has the power to do something that nothing else can do: transform you at the causal core of who you are as a human being – your heart.” – Paul Tripp
The month of May, being the fifth month of the year is usually referred to as the month of Grace. Five or 5 is a numeral, which symbolizes God’s grace. It is one of the most widely mentioned words in the Bible which also symbolizes God’s kindness and favor to humankind. So, what is the significance of grace and how does it work in the life of a believer. The Bible, as recorded in the Memory verse, stated that God ‘knows the plans He has for us. Plans to prosper and nit harm us, to give us a future and a hope’. Therefore, as we run the race ahead of us this month of grace, we should be assured of Gods abiding presence and that our eventual destination will be prosperity and safety. In spite of the insecurity and threats to life witnessed daily in our society, our assurance is that God has our back and He is at work in our lives. Therefore, we should not “…. fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” (Psalm 91: 5-6). We have grace for the race and journey ahead this month and indeed the entire year. His presence will go with us and we will have safety and good success in Jesus name.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you,
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.
Prayer: Dear Father God, I pray that your grace shall find me and abound in my life, family and the entire nation this month and for the rest of the year, in Jesus mighty name.
